Leading European flightcase manufacturer 5 Star continues to enjoy brisk business this autumn with a wide variety of projects including a substantial supply of cases to Edinburgh-based lighting, sound and AV specialist, Black Light.
The cases – a series of general purpose and custom items – were purchased to protect and transport Black Light’s newest equipment investments, including lighting and rigging kit.
5 Star designed, manufactured and delivered the order with their characteristic speed and efficiency so the cases were able to go straight into action on a range of events and hires.
5 Star was selected for its reputation for producing robust, premium quality cases as well as the expedient turnaround, and was project managed for them by John Barsby out of the company’s Wisbech HQ.
Eight Eurotrucker road trunks with full trays, one ETC Gio lighting console case, two Selecon Acclaim Fresnel 12-way trunks, two Selecon Rama 1.2k spot trunks, two 8-way ETC Source Four Lustre+ LED fixture trunks and a 4-way Prolyte ProLyft PLE-10 chain hoist trunk were supplied.
Six versatile and sought-after engineer’s tool cases for Black Light crew completed the order.
All the cases were finished in a spectacular, eye-catching purple high pressure laminate (HPL) finish and featured Black Light branding courtesy of 5 Star’s in-house screen printing facility.
The case specifications were a mixture of Super Tour, Heavy Industrial and Industrial grades to suit the size and layout of the equipment being housed.
5 Star’s ‘Super Tour’ is very popular for all touring applications. Based on the original Tour Grade range, Super Tour utilises the same rugged carcass construction from 12mm birch ply, offering additional strength with an increased 35mm x 1.75mm aluminum angle section. This extrusion is groove-riveted for added durability.
The ‘Industrial’ range is used in a diversity of sectors including entertainment as well as medical, military and telecoms. The high quality core construction is from the finest materials including birch-ply, faced with thermo-plastic laminates or a whole range of alternative coverings, all making the resulting product an ideal heavy-duty choice of case.
Phil Haladine, Company Development Manager for Black Light is delighted with the cases. “As always 5 Star delivered great products quickly and efficiently and were a pleasure to deal with,” he comments.
Black Light projects already benefitting from the new 5 Star cases include the Arts and Business Awards 2012, Glow in the Park 2012, and they will also be out on Edinburgh’s world-famous Hogmanay celebrations as we roll over to 2013.
