A.C Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd’s Audio division has supplied a new Sennheiser radio microphone system to St Albans based Insync Productions Ltd, a busy AV supplier and providers of technical production, design and rental services, specialising in corporate and live events.
The time came for Insync to upgrade their existing radio mic system, and with the digital switchover on the horizon next year, they were keen to ensure that their investment was fully Channel 38 compliant.
Sennheiser is one of a number of premium audio brands for which AC-ET is a distributor. The purchase was co-ordinated by Glen Thompson from the company’s High Wycombe office with Insync’s MD, Scott Tompkins and Head of Sound, Ali McGrattan.
Before investing, Insync looked at other wireless brands as well. However, having used Sennheiser for the last seven years – along with other systems – they have been consistently happy with its performance and reliability. In addition, due to their familiarity already with the brand’s equipment, they decided to go with Sennheiser again for this latest investment.
“Sennheiser is an excellent choice for any spoken word and presentation scenarios, and also provides extremely clear vocals for bands and live performers. Overall, it’s a great workhorse” says Scott.
He also comments that Glen’s knowledge of Sennheiser and their technical philosophies – having worked for the manufacturer before joining the AC-ET team – helped considerably in their decision-making. Adding that the service from AC-ET has always been “fast, reliable and efficient” – all factors reinforcing their choice.
The package consisted of 15 EM 2050 twin rack mount Diversity receivers with PC Control, 20 SK 2000-GBW body-pack transmitters and 10 SKM 2000 BK hand-held mics with MMD 935-1 cardioid capsules, four MKE 2-4-GOLD-C lavalier mics were also purchased to supplement existing stock.
One of the many elements impressing Scott about the new Sennheiser system is the amount of operator feedback available via the receivers, and the new Squelch settings on the front of the display, which offer a lot more functionality for set up and operation.
The system has full Ethernet connectivity and is network enabled, so when connected via a wireless router it can be accessed using a laptop by the engineers from anywhere in the venue.
The SK2000 body packs are lightweight and robust, and are all fitted with new LEMO connectors.
As soon as the new system was delivered to Insync, it immediately went out on a series of corporate shows, where it performed superbly and satisfied all the parameters – directly confirming Insync’s decision to go with the winning combination of Sennheiser together with the specialist audio product knowledge available from AC-ET.
