ETC is showing a range of its latest products on its stand at this year’s ABTT show, based on the theme Layers of Light. From studio to stage to architecture – both inside and out – ETC has a fixture which works perfectly for all occasions.
Selador Desire
ETC’s new Selador Desire range, which is available for demonstration, allows visitors to experience the quality and power of ETC’s x7 Colour System in a PAR shaped housing.
Desire is a selection of wash lights including Lustr+, Vivid, Fire, Ice and Studio variants which complement the company’s Selador Classic LED range. Each is optimised for specific lighting needs.
Before Selador, it was thought that LED simply wasn’t up to the task of theatre lighting; however, the x7 Colour System adds four more colours to the traditional RGB mix, radically expanding the colour range and power. As LED and lighting technology continues to improve, so Selador has too, with RDM and stand alone operation included as standard on Desire, so that any of the fixtures can be controlled from a push button panel on the back of each. They can also be networked together to create sequences and chases without the need for a lighting desk.
New Source Fours
Also new in ETC’s lighting range is a Fresnel luminaire, which offers the controlled washlight and soft focus area lighting you can only get from barn-doored Fresnels. The special ETC dichroic reflector design enables Source Four Fresnel equipped with HPL 750W lamp to equal the lumens output of other manufacturers’ 1000W Fresnel fixtures. The unit has a unique Quick eXchange lamp socket, accessible from the bottom access door, enabling re-lamping without breaking focus.
The Source Four XT, an IP65 rated zoom fixture with HID lamp for outdoor use, is also on show. The acclaimed operational benefits users love in Source Fours – optical acuity, more light output and energy savings – are now in a dust tight, water tight housing for all weather use.
All of these fixtures can be seen in ETC’s new mini website, www.layersoflight.com, which gives ideas of how and where each can be used.
Control desks
ETC’s range of control desks, including Congo Kid – the latest addition to the Congo line – is also on show. Congo Kid offers a style and power of lighting control which will be familiar to users, in an affordable package designed for smaller venues. The desk is self-contained, with 40 master faders and all the controls from the Congo jr built into a portable console. It works perfectly either as a fully independent main desk or a convenient client or back-up desk for smaller shows.
ETC technicians and staff, including Eos product manager Anne Valentino, are on hand to chat with visitors and offer product demonstrations.
Advances in dimming
Finally, ETC is showing items from its dimming range, including SmartModule 2, first seen at last year’s ABTT, which brings portable, compact solutions to any size of venue. Designed as part of ETC’s Smart Solutions range of portable dimming and control, SmartModule 2 doesn’t require any complicated setup – just plug in and go!
