London based drapes specialist Cover It Up supplied soft goods and dressing services for production company IMG at the Paulaner Lager Beerfest, a 3 day corporate event staged at Old Billingsgate Market, London, UK.
Cover It Up has worked in the venue on numerous occasions. They decked out the perimeter walls of the famous historic site in black wool serge, in a design that included careful back-filling of the arches in an operation that diligently and subtly maintained the integrity and shape of the architecture.
The brief also included the creation of a complete infrastructure of cloakrooms, a reception area, catering and washing up facility rooms, waiting staff holding areas, a green room and production office – all utilizing drapes hung on catenaries.
The central columns of the main hall were clad by the Cover It Up team of 8 in a vibrant sky blue material to match the sponsors flags, and they also flew the 45 Paulaner flags in the roof beams, all of which gave the hall a special and very striking appearance.
Says Cover It Up’s Rhys Sion, “We have a tried-and-tested formula for working in Old Billingsgate, and this allows us to approach each project there very efficiently in terms of the rigging and the time required”. Having said that, with get in schedules getting ever shorter, this still required some serious teamwork and co-ordination for the crew, who got in a day and a half before the first night of events.
Other recent events for which Cover It Up has worked at Old Billingsgate include The Professional Cricket Awards, BMBL, a Princes Trust fundraiser and a Marks & Spencer management training symposium.
They will be working alongside IMG again on the upcoming Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall in December.
