Following hot on the heals of the successful launch of the innovative T-Series loudspeaker range at the beginning of this year, d&b audiotechnik, the proud protagonist of the system concept, is now offering the installation market a taste of the action. The same innovative technology that went into the design of the T-Series has now been extended into the new Ti-Series, offering a collection of loudspeaker systems and hardware fittings specially targeted for fixed installation use.
The Series comprises the Ti10L being the line array loudspeaker and Ti10P for point source usage with the Ti subwoofer completing the package. The unobtrusive rigging hardware allows aesthetic integration, whether ground supported or flown and there is the option to colour coordinate both the system and rigging to suit visual requirements. The Ti-Series like its forebear not only delivers an impressive performance as d&b’s smallest line array or stand-alone point source system but is designed to address an extremely wide range of small to medium sized installation applications.
The Ti10 cabinet has the same dimensions for both loudspeaker versions 470/18.5 x 197/7.8 x 300/11.8 mm/inch and is a passive 2-way design that houses two 6.5″ drivers, a 1.4″ exit HF compression driver. At the core of the design is a unique combination of a rotatable horn, achieved without the use of any tools, coupled with an acoustic lens within the loudspeaker grill assembly. The HF driver is fitted to a wave guide horn producing vertical line source directivity with a 90° horizontal pattern, the acoustic lens widens this to 105° for line array applications. Rotation of the horn by 90° relative to the lens produces an accurate Ti10 point source dispersion transforming a vertically oriented Ti10 into a stand-alone full range loudspeaker with 90° horizontal and 35° vertical directivity pattern.
Whilst the Ti10L loudspeaker is deployed in multiples as elements of line arrays, incorporates appropriate rigging and maintains horizontal constant directivity down to approximately 600 Hz, the Ti10P loudspeaker is used as a point source stand-alone cabinet without the line array hardware and the vertical directivity control extends approximately one octave lower than similarly sized biaxial loudspeakers.
The Ti-SUB shares the same width and integrated rigging hardware as the Ti10L for deployment either flown at the top of a Ti10L array or as a separate column. It can also be ground stacked for use with either of the Ti10 loudspeaker versions. It is used to increase the low frequency headroom and extend the bandwidth of a Ti10 column down to 47 Hz. The bass-reflex design utilizes a high excursion 15″ driver with a neodymium magnet assembly and employs d&b SenseDrive technology when driven by the D12 amplifier.
The Ti loudspeaker systems can be driven by either the d&b D6 or D12 power amplifiers which are specially designed and manufactured by d&b utilizing digital signal processing and include switch-able functions for precisely tailoring system response for a wide variety of applications. Between them they provide two different power ranges, incorporate d&b loudspeaker specific configuration information and have analogue and digital signal inputs and links. Both amplifiers have d&b Remote network interfaces enabling control and monitoring of the system functions and extensive system integration capabilities.
