The run of international trade shows continued for Robe with PALM Expo at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai, India, where Robe exhibited on the stand of its distributor, Integrated Entertainment Solutions (IES).
Everyone enjoyed the vibrancy and colour of Mumbai and the great hospitality offered by Rasesh Parekh and Kekul Sheth and the IES team, who are also based in India’s financial and entertainment capital, Mumbai.
The show was extremely busy and saw a full range of the latest Robe products demonstrated including the MMX Spot, the ROBIN 600 series including the amazing LEDWash 600, the ColorSpot & Wash 2500E AT Series and the new DigitalSpot 3500DT.
Several deals were concluded during the exhibition and there was a constant stream of high quality visitors to the stand from many areas of the industry including rental companies, installers, lighting designers and others working in film and TV production.
The Indian entertainment and production market has been a massive growth area for Robe in the last 18 months, and particularly since the last PALM Expo a year ago. It continues to be buoyant and expand steadily as there are several discerning Indian companies looking for quality products rather than lower cost alternatives to add to their inventories.
Robe Lighting was represented at the exhibition by Sales Director Harry von den Stemmen and Middle East Regional Sales Manager Elie Batah, with Petr Vanek on hand for technical support and live demonstrations.
Says Harry, “The booth was busy I was impressed with the look and design. We saw lots of people and the Robe brand is definitely now well established in India, thanks to the efforts of IES. All the elements are now in place for us to build on that and move forward.”
The LEDWash 600 attracted huge amounts of interest as always, and orders for Robe’s new ‘wonder LED wash’ were also firmed up during the exhibition. With power often a challenge in many situations in India, the industry is becoming aware of the numerous solutions and advantages offered by following the LED route.
Robe’s powerful 2500 Series of moving heads is also a big seller in India, with its proliferation of live shows, events and spectaculars, and these units also attracted plenty of attention.
The general consensus of opinion was that the exhibition was improved in look and feel from 2010 with a good mix of Indian and international visitors and a high footfall.
As well as a stylish contemporary open stand design which revealed prominent branding creating a strong identity, IES increased their space by 50% from last year, reflecting the need to make an impact .. which they did in several ways
It was the only stand to feature a full cocktail bar, with some seriously imaginative concoctions created by bartending mixmaster Sanket and his crew. Happy hours for the last 2 hours of the show each day proved a big hit, creating a real buzz for the booth as a social gathering place for the movers and shakers of the show – perpetuating the ‘human factor’ philosophy that business opportunities can often arise from more relaxed environments!
Three ‘Balloon Boys’ circulated around the show floor, advertising the IES and ROBE stand’s location and the new products on display on their internally lit globes, which also drew people to the stand.
On the evening of the first night, IES threw a fabulous party at the Vie Deck & Lounge overlooking beautiful Juhu Beach, where guests – braving the first of the monsoon rains which caused traffic chaos around the city – enjoyed a chilled atmosphere, cool dance vibes, foot, head and back massages, tarot card readings, drinks and a buffet dinner.
Rasesh concludes, “We have enjoyed a very successful show this year – we caught up with lots of important players and have done some good business as well as meeting some new contacts. We are looking forward to a busy year ahead, and it was great to spend time with our friends and colleagues from Robe – there is a great team in place and lots of positive energies”.
