White Light and ETC recently hosted a hugely successful ‘refresher course’ training day covering ETC’s hugely popular Eos and Ion console ranges.
Held at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre, the course was divided into two parts. The first was designed to provide an update as to the new and changed functionality in the recently released Eos software version 1.9, including changes to the behaviour of the Update command and the new locked, absolute and by-device palette types. The second part covered configuring and using the many remote devices that are now available as part of the Eos system, including networking consoles to remote video interfaces and PC/Mac client software, and connecting both the standard RFR Radio Remote and the iRFR iPhone/iPod Touch Remote.
Hosted by ETC’s Luke Delwiche and White Light’s Roger Hennigan, the day was enjoyed by around 40 visitors, including staff from the Royal Opera House, the Guildhall School, De Montfort University in Leicester, the Trafalgar Studios, Novello Theatre and Soho Theatre in London, the Rose Theatre in Kingston, the Theatre Royal Windsor and elsewhere. The diverse range of visitors reflects the enormous success that the Eos/Ion range has enjoyed since its introduction, White Light having supplied Eos-family control systems to the Royal Opera House, the Leicester Curve, all of ATG’s theatres around the UK and in London, and many more.
“The day had a good turn-out in a relaxed, non-classroom venue, letting technicians drop in to catch up on the latest Eos/Ion updates,” comments Phil Giddings from the Duke of York’s Theatre. ETC’s Luke Delwiche adds “we think the day was an excellent opportunity to re-connect with users who have already attended Eos/Ion console training, and we hope to offer additional ‘beyond the basics’ sessions in the future – hopefully in a venue as welcoming as the Duke of York’s, whose staff we thank for their hospitality during the day.”
The Eos/Ion Refresher Day is just one of the many training events regularly held by White Light, other courses covering subjects including the Avo Pearl, ETC Express, Whole Hog 2, MA grandMA, Strand 500-series and LSC console ranges, stage pyrotechnics, moving light technology and SPA Health and Safety Passport training. All of the courses are taught by hugely experienced industry professionals, allowing the sharing of ‘real world’ hints and tips as well as the ‘standard’ operating functionality.
