London Light Production Services’ relationship with Rose Bruford College is continuing after supplying them with a new ETC Ion console for their lighting labs and is set to follow up this sale by providing the lighting tutors with initial training, which in turn will allow the college to offer students day-to day support. London Light has committed to offering the students more in-depth support as and when they require it.
Hansjörg Schmidt, lighting design programme director at Rose Bruford, says: “We are very happy with the Ion, which was purchased for use by students on the BA (Hons) Lighting Design course at Rose Bruford College. Students use the desk in our specialist lighting labs to create small scale projects in a range of applications, from theatre lighting to product launch and concert lighting projects. The console is also used to serve college productions, both on campus and on tour as well as for main college productions at a range of London venues.
“The Ion replaces one of the lighting programme’s ETC Express desks and we hope to continue upgrading our resources over the next two years.”
Over the summer London Light also supported the college by doing their PAT testing on all their lighting equipment in their two theatres, two studios and three lighting labs, enabling the College’s technicians to take a well-earned break before the new academic year started.
David Buffham, managing director at London Light explains: “We have had a great response since becoming console dealers for ETC and have had many people approaching us about the Eos and Congo ranges but also about the new ETC Element console. Working with Rose Bruford has allowed us to work closer with the new faces within the industry and support them as they develop their careers.
“London Light looks forward to developing a good relationship with the college by continuing to support students with their projects. We also provide students with real work experience on our projects in order to give them some practice within a controlled environment.”
London Light is taking full advantage of its new position as an ETC authorised console dealer and is working with other companies and theatres that are looking to upgrade or purchase a new lighting console.
