Luc Peumans of Belgian based creative lighting design practice, Painting With Light has been nominated in the Live Event category of the 2014 ‘Knights of Illumination’ (KOI) Awards for his work on lighting this year’s ground-breaking Peter Pan arena show produced by Music Hall Events.
The KOI Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in lighting and visual design by Lighting Designers and Video Content Creators working on productions in the UK. The acclaimed Peter Pan show played several dates in the UK at the start of the year as part of a European tour.
“I am absolutely thrilled to receive the nomination,” states Luc, who is well known for his lighting, set visual design work in entertainment including TV, musical theatre, rock ‘n’ roll and outdoor spectaculars. He has also lit several landmark architectural projects.
His very distinctive work takes elements from all these diverse disciplines and frequently crosses them over into new environments and contexts.
Peter Pan’s all-action narrative included free flying, dramatic visual effects, pyro and stunning fully 3D mapped digital scenery, for which Luc imagineered a cool mix of spectacle and visual style to match the vibe, energy and magic of the show. The brief was to provide epic arena show lighting to suit and highlight the action within the fast flowing video montages, slick choreography and contemporary staging.
The 2014 KOI Award winners will be announced at a special event staged in London on October 5th.
