In the heart of Herning, Denmark, lies the MCH centre. It’s made up of a Congress centre, exhibition centre and an outdoor arena. The congress centre’s main entrance features a miniature glass pyramid reminiscent of the Louvre pyramid. The congress centre is compromised of a large amphitheatre style auditorium, three concert halls and 4 distinct meeting rooms. The MCH Centre welcomes 900,000 guests annually.
Built originally in 1954, the Kongrescenter strives to update the equipment and structure to continually remain current and up to date. The Congress Hall, with seating for 1,800 guests, and the Concert Hall, with space for 2,400 received new audio installations from Adamson Systems.
According to the MCH Centre’s slogan, which translated from Danish is a bit of a mouthful, explains the MCH’s choice of Adamson’s latest line array Metrix series as an obvious one: ‘Providing customers and guests with the best service and greatest experience, in professionally up to date facilities build to impress.’ The Metrix exhibits all that Adamson is known for; great warm vocal quality with present and coherent mids and hi’s, with enough bottom end and SPL (peak at 132.5dB) to cover both venues evenly. The Metrix’s ultra compact size makes it discreet and lets the focus be where it is needed; on stage and on the performer.
The low ceiling height of the Congress Hall installation calls for 4 short Metrix clusters. Two clusters are flown L and R of stage, 2 flown as delays in the middle of the hall and two Metrix Subs sit on the on the stage. Each cluster is made of 1 Metrix-i and 2 Metrix W-i enclosures and the bottom of the array, totalling in 35 degrees of vertical and 120 degrees of horizontal coverage. As a permanent installation Adamson’s –i series rigging the EIR™ system was used rather than the touring AIR™ rigging, making each enclosure 10lbs lighter and more economical. Lab.gruppen’s reliable install series 48:4’s were used for powering the system with Adamson’s M Series Processor. “It’s a very special design executed by Adamson Scandinavia, and it’s working superb”, according to Lars Bo Baadsgaard, Adamson Scandinavia Director of Sales.
The Concert Hall design was originally planned to be used only for speech and AV, but so far it has been used for about 50% of the actual shows performed in the venue.
Each cluster consists of 6 Metrix-i and 2 Metrix W-i hangs with 2 Subs ground stacked below the arrays. The semi-permanent system is slid out to be used as an out fill using a custom built boom system when tours which are carrying their own gear use the existing points for their hangs. This design also incorporates Lab.gruppen 48:4 amps and Adamson M Series processing.
