Sennheiser microphones, in-ear monitoring, personnel and NET 1 frequency management system were all at the heart of Capital Radio’s Summertime Ball held recently at the Emirates Stadium in London.
With Sennheiser’s support team of Mark Saunders, Dave Hawker and Phil Cummings on hand to support sound company, Wigwam, a total of seventy presenters and performers chose Sennheiser as they entertained the sell out crowd.
As far as in-ear monitoring was concerned the Summertime Ball was, like so many recent events, a Sennheiser only affair. All IEM’s used by performers were Sennheiser – G2 300 series.
In addition, all presenter mics were Sennheiser SKM 5200s, the same model chosen by headliner, Leona Lewis.
Other performers, including Saturdays, Daniel Merriweather, Mark Ronson and Shontelle all performed with Sennheiser SKM 935 mics.
Katie Walker, RF Manager at Wigwam, was particularly impressed by Sennheiser’s NET 1 frequency system which allows operators to control and monitor up to ten Sennheiser receivers:
“With 12 IEM systems, 22 receiver packs and 70 performers sharing them over a six hour performance, manual programming could have been a real challenge. Using the NET 1’s made it really easy. I’d not used the units in a gig situation before this show but I was really impressed. They’re very easy to use and was able to allocate new frequencies in seconds!”
Geoff Muir, Contracts Manager at Wigwam, said:
“We worked with Sennheiser on the last big Capital Radio event – the Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 Arena. That all went really well and I’m happy to say this event did too. It’s great to have the Sennheiser team on site, the equipment all worked perfectly and, for a full on six hour show, that’s all you can ask for!”
