PLASA09 visitor registration kicked off with what organisers PLASA Events Ltd describe as a “phenomenal” start as the first 48 hours saw over 4,000 visitors take advantage of a limited-time offer of free registration during March only – a saving of £20 off the standard ticket price.
Confidence that PLASA09 will be a busy show despite the global economic situation is confirmed by extremely healthy exhibitor take-up – with no less than 80 per cent of stand space already booked for PLASA09, taking place at London’s Earls Court between 13-16 September 2009.
Among the exhibitors who have taken larger stand space than last year are Pharos Controls, Steinigke Showtechnic, Green Hippo and Amptown – and a number of brand new exhibitors including Vortek, E.E.S and Bison Produkter have also lined up alongside other manufacturers who are returning to the show after an absence such as Rubber Box, dB Technologies, Indu Electric and Staging Concepts.
PLASA09 Event Manager Sophie Atkinson comments “The PLASA Show continues to be a success story because, despite the global economic circumstances, manufacturers and distributors alike are placing more importance on a proven product launch showcase and an all-in-one forum for networking and driving sales at the highest level. And PLASA09 effectively answers all these requirements.”
PLASA Events is planning a major new feature at the heart of Earls Court 2 to complement the established show bar at the heart of Earls Court 1 and to provide extra networking facilities.
PLASA09 will also build on the popularity of last year’s biggest ever seminar programme. With most seminars booked out well in advance at PLASA08, this year will feature an enhanced programme of exhibitor driven and special interest sessions, as well as intensive product training courses presented by leading manufacturers. “As a trade association run event” adds Atkinson, “we are in a position to be able to re-invest back into the entertainment technology industry as a result of both PLASA09 and next month’s PLASA Focus in Leeds. This unique engagement with the industry community allows the influence of the show and the organisation to extend well beyond four days in September.”
Attendance figures from PLASA08 showed that last year’s event attracted the highest number of visitors for five years – bucking the general trade show trend in spectacular style with a 10 per cent growth in visitor figures across the event’s four days compared to 2007.
PLASA09 continues to demonstrate its global influence, both from an exhibitor and visitor point of view, with over 45% international exhibitors and 30% international buyers as well as a trend for increased international press attendance – further confirmation of the show’s importance to the industry as a diverse launch platform for all the key entertainment technology sectors across the world.
