PLASA 2010 is to gain a host of new features this year as the list of exhibitors in audio, video, lighting and staging technologies continues to grow.
There are over 43 new exhibitors who weren’t at the show last year, including Ateis, Baldwin Boxall, Bosch, Bose, Christie, Chroma-Q, EAW, Electro-Voice, Intertek, Korg, Lighthouse Technologies, Line 6, Mackie, Martin Audio, M Studio, Penton, Turbosound, Stageco, Sundrax, Taiden, Tomcat, Wasp and Zero 88.
These will add to an already comprehensive line-up of leading manufacturers and industry specialists underscoring PLASA’s position as the place to see new products and major industry brands.
The PLASA Innovation Gallery, which profiles all the launch products nominated for a PLASA Innovation Award, will showcase a new format on Sunday 12 September, when entrants will publicly demonstrate their products to the Awards judges as part of this new Interactive Gallery feature, which will be given a prime position at the entrance to Earls Court 2. All the presentations will be recorded and the winning ones will be replayed in the Gallery and uploaded to the show website immediately after the show.
To ensure PLASA 2010 gets off to a busy start each day, visitors will be able to get early access to the Gallery from 9.30am each morning – 30 minutes before the show officially opens – where free refreshments will be available in a new-style café area.
The Innovation Gallery is just one of many new or improved features at PLASA 2010 this year, which will see the ISCE and Springboard Pavilions radically expanded and new features introduced focusing on key developments across the industry. These major new additions are currently being finalised and full details will be announced shortly.
Also brand new is Industry Skills & Qualifications Wednesday (September 15) when the industry will meet its future talent as leading schools and colleges with arts production courses participate in the show, in line with a number of seminars focusing on the importance of training and education in the industry.
The major four-day Education & Learning Programme is also about to go live with a diverse mix of presentations and industry-leading contributors. This includes a two-day programme of seminars for AV professionals hosted by InfoComm International, an expanded Technologies For Worship Pavilion, a special focus on EN54, with presentations on how this new standard affects businesses across the industry, and a stream of sessions being presented under ‘Sustainability Tuesday’ addressing this important issue for the industry. All this will be complemented by a busy cluster of audio and lighting demo rooms hosted by leading international brands including Funktion One, EAW, Martin Professional, Robe, KV2, Clay Paky, Allen & Heath, Duran Audio, Avid, Shure and many more.
A ‘world first’ event takes place alongside PLASA 2010 in the shape of the first-ever PLASA International Rigging Conference. Featuring many of the leading figures in the event and entertainment rigging industry, it’s a must for everyone involved with professional rigging, from riggers through to rental companies and venue managers. Speakers include Unusual Rigging’s Alan Jacobi, Star Events Group’s Roger Barrett, Prolyte’s Marc Hendriks, CM ET’s Cristiano Giavedoni and Bill Sapsis of Sapsis Rigging. This two-day conference, which runs on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 September in the adjoining Earls Court Conference Centre, offers the rigging community a unique opportunity to get together and discuss the challenges facing the industry.
There’s a fantastic amount of new things to be found at PLASA 2010 this year, which make this industry-favourite show well worth the time to visit.
