Guardian cult columnist, writer of BBC4 series Screenwipe and writer of the Bafta nominated drama Dead Set, Charlie Brooker is heading up the new TV show, You Have Been Watching.
This Channel 4 eight part series sees Brooker dissecting the week’s TV shows along with three funny and famous guests. The production company Zeppotron describes it as a brilliant hybrid of comedy quiz show and TV review programme.
Award winning Production Designer Cath Pater-Lancucki is the creator of the impressive towering set of back-lit stacked TV sets crowned with satellite dishes. At a time when there is some merit to the theory that all shows look similar, Cath’s set for YHBW is refreshingly distinctive.
Lighting Designer, Will Charles was recruited to light the show, and wanted it to feel like an ‘over the top’ version of Telly Addicts. Charlie Brooker’s caustic but still affectionate views on television seemed to deserve an equally tongue in cheek look.
Will made a call to Richard Martin Lighting to provide the lighting fixtures for the show which consists of 20 x GLP Chrome Impressions as a ceiling of light above the set, 7 x VL3500 and 4 x VL3000 Spots for some big fat searchlight beams behind the set, 2 x Mac 500’s as back lights and 8 x VL1000TS as tungsten key lights.
Will has been working alongside moving light operator Andy Dobbs on a Vector Green, generic operator Oliver Lifely, RML Technician, Dan Neagle and Riverside’s Gaffer Mikey Howard.

That was a great show and very funny! It was the quickest weekly studio set build as each stack was trucked in ready made and positioned and voila … always a pleasure to work with my TV husband Will Charles ..
