Robe lighting enjoyed an amazing PLASA 2010 exhibition in London, launching 9 new innovative, environmentally friendly products and a major green initiative – “Think of the Future – Consider Nature”; designing a fabulous ecospheric style booth; and staging one of the best and busiest social events of the show, The Robe Party, at the Cafe de Paris in central London on the Sunday night.
“I think it was probably our best PLASA to date in terms of positive energy, quality of visitors and interest shown in the new products” says MD Josef Valchar, adding, “This really confirms that our understanding of current market demands and our R’n’D is going in the right direction”.
Robe’s sales director Harry Von Den Stemmen adds, “Visitors were absolutely the target market. Reactions were generally very good and the booth was very busy on all days. The “green” theme and design was a big hit and tapped into a contemporary nerve”.
Many of Robe’s international distributors attended, and generally there was a good global mix of visitors including large contingents from Europe, Asia, South Africa, and other African countries.
The booth stood out spectacularly from others! Emphasising the green elements, the stylish, elegant and open space featured Bonsai trees dotted all over, with a large raised central area and an impressive set of projection cones in the ceiling, along with Robe’s famous exhibition lightshow at pre-planned intervals. Visitors loved the intermittent birdsong soundtrack which brought additional calmness and tranquillity to a frenetic exhibition environment, and proved great for business!
On the fun side, the daily Happy Hour was a huge attraction. Each day, a winner was selected from the Lucky Draw and will now have the chance to visit the beautiful Czech Republic and enjoy Robe’s hospitality on their home turf.
Products attracting the most attention were the ROBIN MMX Spot – which utilizes a brand new 800W discharge lamp to produce a light output exceeding currently available 1200W discharge fixtures; the super-slim ROBIN LEDWash 600, which features 37 x 10 Watt RGBW multichip LEDs, each individually controllable and arranged in 3 concentric rings for creating stunning colour and pattern effects; and the CityFlex 48, a powerful customizable LED unit with a strong and uniform light output, suitable for multiple applications.
Visitors liked the MMX Spot for its green concept – compactness, small footprint, low weight, reduced power consumption and because it’s the perfect replacement for ageing 1200W fixtures. They appreciated the LEDWash 600 because it gives Robe distributors something completely unique from anything offered by a competitor brand. The physically user-configurable CityFlex 48 offers something totally different and numerous creative solutions for designers.
There was also plenty of positive feedback on Robe’s DigitalSpot 7000 DT, which is now becoming well established, along with the Anolis Arc Pad Xtreme and Robe CitySkape Xtreme LED wash fixtures.
All these products are in production and can be implemented immediately for current projects.
The off stand Demo Room was well attended as always, both by an interested public and an increasing number of specialists like LDs and specifiers wanting a more in depth knowledge and to contribute to future product development with their ideas. Robe is very keen to encourage this forum for discussion and invaluable feedback.
On the party front, the traditional Sunday night Robe bash was their busiest to date at this popular venue, packed with people, action and a great atmosphere as guests enjoyed entertainment from a Michael Jackson impersonator, circulating massage angels and caricaturists. Drinks, food, music and numerous animated conversations as people made new contacts and reacquainted themselves with industry friends and colleagues, all added to this masterpiece of social intercourse.
