Leading Serbian rental company Studio Berar purchased 50 new Robe ROBIN 100 LEDBeams initially to meet a spec by lighting designer Andy Hurst for maverick electro rockers The Prodigy, and their Main ‘Warriors’ stage headline performance at the recent Warriors Dance Festival.
The mega popular one day event was staged at the Kalemegdan Fortress in Belgrade, an exceptionally atmospheric location dating back to the first century AD.
Studio Berar provided full technical production for the Festival which also included the ‘Take Me To The Hospital’ stage and the ‘Invaders Must Die’ stage …. All featuring a stellar line up of international and national artists to sate anyone with a serious dance music habit!
Andy Hurst has been using LEDBeam 100s for Prodigy’s 2012 summer festival world tour wherever possible, which kicked off at Download in the UK back in May, where they rocked with 96 LEDBeam 100s among other fixtures.
Hurst loves the LEDWash 100 for its extreme brightness and zappiness. At WDF, he used 34 of them rigged on vertical trussing ladders at the back and to both sides of the stage throughout the Prodigy’s super-loud, turbo-charged set …. for plenty of craziness and wild effects.
The other 16 of Studio Berar’s new LEDBeam 100s were in action on the Take Me To the Hospital stage, together with 12 Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs, 12 ColorSpot 575E ATs and 12 ColorSpot 575E AT Zooms.
Four Robe ROBIN 300 Classics along with the eight Robe ColorSpot 700E ATs helped fight off the aliens on the Invaders Must Die rig.
The overall production lighting designs for all three WDF 2012 stages was created by Studio Berar’s lighting division; Marko Malesevic, Radoslav Mihalek and Goran Kravic all great supporters of Robe moving lights.
Lighting on all the Studio Berar stages was controlled by various Avolites consoles, while Andy Hurst brought his own Road Hog Full Boar lighting console for Prodigy.
Studio Berar has a substantial stock of Robe lights, however this was their first purchase of LEDBeam 100s.
Everyone was impressed with the way they handled the WDF, where they were given a relentless non-stop hammering for 12 hours!
The Studio Berar crew love the fabulously fast pan / tilt movement and rapid strobing effects, and are looking forward to integrating them into their future work.
Studio Berar also supplied a JBL VerTec PA for the Warriors stage, with Soundcraft Vi6 consoles for FOH and monitors.
Other show stopping performances and highlights of WDF 2012 included Skrillex making his Serbian debut and the UK’s Chase & Status, both on the Warriors Stage, and Belgrade rapper Sajsi MC with DJ Damian Eltech on Invaders Must Die.
