Robe lighting enjoyed a very busy Frankfurt 2009, seeing more people than expected and experiencing massive interest in their newly launched products – the Robin 3 Plasma Spot, the Robin 300E Spot and Wash fixtures and the REDMix 2-188 Outdoor LED wash light.
Robe’s highly visual stand in Hall 9 was designed by Nathan Wan from the UK office, utilising a combination of Digital and RED (Robe Emitting Diodes) Series products as well as conventional moving lights.
The new Robin (Robe Innovative Concept) units together with the DigitalSpots attracted enormous interest from all sectors of the industry. Visitors included a diverse cross section of design professionals, reflecting the generally upbeat vibe and genuine quality of the show.

Robe ran a separate demonstration area throughout the 4 show days to illustrate the new products to all wanting a closer and more in-depth look. These sessions were extremely popular, and also served as an invaluable feedback forum where clients and end-users could discuss their needs and requirements face-to-face with Robe’s technical team.
Says Harry von den Stemmen, Robe’s International sales Manager, “The show was extremely busy for us. On the first 2 days many of our international distributors and customers visited the booth, and while the Friday proved a little quieter, it was also an excellent opportunity to speak to new people. Saturday, the public day, also offered a great opportunity for us to walk the floor and catch up with some of our industry friends and colleagues”.
The Robin 3 Plasma Spot was the talk of the show, with everyone eagerly anticipating the arrival of a working fixture using the new light source, and they could see the fixture in operation in the presentation area.
Robe will shortly deliver the first 1000 Robin 3 Plasma Spots to a network of 10 selected launch customers. They will be rental and production companies around the globe keen to embrace this revolutionary new technology.
When quizzed on the “credit crunch” and general economic climate, von den Stemmen says, “At the start of the year, all companies experienced a few weaker months ….. but following that, and a very positive Prolight, we’ve had a phenomenal order intake. This was quite a surprise and will keep our production lines busy until summer”.
He feels that Prolight 2009 was important as a strategic indicator to the general mood and economic environment, commenting, “The situation is much better than we anticipated, so we are cautiously optimistic that this will be reflected in the coming months”.
Robe also enjoyed great support from its distributors at Prolight 2009, which directly followed on from the 3rd Robe International Dealer Conference, staged just beforehand in the Czech Republic.
