Czech Republic and Chinese based trussing manufacturer MILOS ran a very successful Technical Training & Safety Awareness workshop at its facility in Guangzhou, China, to highlight its facilities, products and services immediately available in the Asia/Australia regions.
This followed the model of the renowned workshops that MILOS runs regularly in Europe, and was attended by a selection of high profile, key decision project makers from major companies in Thailand, Indonesia, India, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore and mainland China.
The aim of the 2 day event was to illustrate the high quality of MILOS’s trussing, roofing and staging products, and emphasise the benefits of the brand’s reputation for unbeatable efficiency and service worldwide in a highly competitive marketplace.
It also stressed the importance of knowledge in terms of health & safety legislation and standards and safe working practices for rigging and the building of temporary structures for all types of events and projects. While good quality products are just one half of this equation, having the experience and information to follow the correct procedures is the other!
The presentation was led by MILOS China’s chief engineer Marek Zubor, MILOS sales manager Michal Zykan, Harold Waldack from Thailand based AsiaRig Ltd and Stephen Huang, director of MILOS Guangzhou.
Zykan comments, “It is really important that people making the decisions to invest in new equipment in the specialist area of temporary construction and rigging are fully aware of the advantages of buying properly tested and certified equipment for their companies and installations”.
Attendees were able to see first hand the MILOS manufacturing process and the quality assurances that come hand-in-hand with all MILOS products.
An overview of all the current and popular MILOS products and the solutions they offer was part of the vast build-up presentation, including MR roofing systems and towers, M290V and M950 QuickTruss, S3 aluminium staging platforms, S4 xStage decking, MT3 ground support systems right and banner stands.
The comprehensive safety section of the Workshop was led by Harold Waldack and Michal Zykan. It included topics like safety rules at work; how using the wrong trussing can lead to accidents; prevention of accidents; personal safety protection whilst working with trussing; applications for truss and temporary structures, and a detailed explanation of the basics of structural construction – including elements like anchoring, working on different terrains and how the immediate environmental conditions of a site will impact on a project.
The 2 part factory tour of MILOS Guangzhou was co-ordinated by Marek Zubor and Stephen Huang. The first part dealt with the machinery and materials, elements like welding practices, controlling processes, tolerance testing, the importance of precision for tooling, load tests and an overview of the complete production process.
The second part covered the full product presentation complete with practical demonstrations of safety applications, including ballasting, exterior conditions, slings, steels, O-rings, shackles, chains and safeties.
It concluded with a customer feedback section that was extremely valuable. All attendees felt that they had enhanced both their knowledge and understanding of MILOS products, and the necessity of rigorous safety standards in the world of trussing and metalwork construction for entertainment, industrial and commercial sectors.
They were also all able to swap ideas and experiences with each other, which proved productive and interesting.
MILOS constantly engages in this type of proactive dialogue with specifiers and end uses, all of which is noted and fed into the new product development channels.
