Wireless Solution Sweden AB recently took part of the Marina Bay Sands Grand Opening in Singapore. Developed by Las Vegas Sands, it is billed as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property, located along Marina Bay in Singapore.
The resort boasts 2,560 hotel rooms, a 120,000 square metre (nearly 1.3 million square feet) convention centre, a mall, museum, two Sands Theatres, six “celebrity chef” restaurants, two floating pavilions, and of course, a colossal casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines. The building is topped with the world’s largest public cantilevered platform hosting a park and infinity swimming pool. Designed by Moshe Safdie Architects, the resort commands an astonishing 200,000 square metres or over 2 million square feet!
The official opening was held on June 23-24 headlined with a music concert staged on the massive outdoor event plaza starring Grammy Award-winning star Kelly Rowland (formerly of Destiny’s Child) with performances from regional artist JJ Lin as well as the cast of the internationally acclaimed Broadway smash hit Jersey Boys. Guests included a collection of celebrity chefs, leading fashion, nightlife, and luxury spa operators, extreme sports aficionados and 4,000 ticket holders. Sands company officials predict the property will usher in a new era of international tourism development in the region, expecting to attract over 18 million visitors a year.
For the Grand Opening, Lighting Designer Colin Baldwin ran a total of 14 universes using W-DMX™ transmitters & Outdoor 21 Parabolic Aerial antennae, located at the Suite Room Balcony of the Fullerton Hotel across the Marina Bay. The W-DMX receivers & Outdoor 21 Parabolic Aerial antennae were located on the Event Plaza on Level 1, the Promenade on Level 4, the Hotel Buttress bridge on Level 19 and the Sky Park on Level 57 of the Marina Bay Sands, delivering signal to an arsenal of DTS XR3000, Syncrolite 5K and 7K, and A & O Falcon 7K fixtures.
Showtec Group of Singapore, working closely with Laser Vision of Australia, supplied all the W-DMX, about 50% of the lighting fixtures, all the lighting consoles, project management, logistic support and crew.
Henry Ang, Managing Director for Showtec Group remarked, “The W-DMX system, namely the transmitters, receivers and Outdoor 21 Parabolic Aerials was a user-friendly system to set up and operate and the performance of the system using the Outdoor 21 Parabolic Aerials at such distance gave us confidence to work on upcoming projects that were beyond our imagination in the past! Well Done W-DMX!!!”
“We’re always proud to be part of such high profile projects,” said Niclas Arvidsson, CEO of Wireless Solution, “To know that our customers have confidence in delivering an interference-free signal, even to great distances. Showtec Group did a phenomenal job and the results were outstanding.”
