Artistic Licence will be exhibiting for the first time at PLASA Focus in Leeds this year on stand S-D13.
The stand will consist of a series of hands-on displays giving visitors the chance to witness active demonstrations – and to try out for themselves – a wide range of Artistic Licence products. These include DMX Splitters, interface solutions and the Art-Net range of DMX to Art-Net converters.
As a prime opportunity to reach professionals outside the customary geographical catchment area of trade shows, Artistic Licence has chosen PLASA Focus to launch its newest LED product, Flexi-Strip.
Flexi-Strip
Flexi-Strip is composed of a length of totally encapsulated LEDs on a strip of flexible circuit board. Rated at IP67*, the encapsulated housing protects Flexi-Strip’s LEDs from moisture, dust and damage, making it ideal for both internal and external applications. Flexi-Strip is available in 1m or 5m lengths – or can be cut to size – and has a self-adhesive backing tape for rapid mounting.
Powered by a 12V PSU, Flexi-Strip comes in Bright or Super-Bright options, with full RGB colour-mixing, and can be dimmed using Artistic Licence Rail-Pipe. A Warm White Super-Bright version is also available.
Applications are countless and include alcove lighting, stair edging, under-shelf lighting in the home, bars and retail environments, concealed lighting under kitchen wall cupboards, bathroom lighting, decorative effects when wrapped around plants and trees, patio lighting, architectural feature lighting and can even be used in the aquarium!
Two more recent additions to the Artistic Licence product range will also be on show: Rail-DALI-DMX and Rail-DMX-DALI converters which were first shown at the ARC 2010 show in February. This is the first time they will be exhibited outside of London and Simon Hobday, Artistic Licence Managing Director, anticipates much interest:
“These two products supersede our very popular Rail-DALI all-in-one DMX/DALI converter which was one of our best selling products. However, when we designed Rail-DALI, the merging of DMX and DALI control was still in its infancy. Now, with the architectural and entertainment markets seeing more cross-over, system designers want better integration and more sophisticated control. We therefore felt it was time to revisit Rail-DALI and have produced two new products that provide our customers with a better solution and are the next generation of DMX/DALI conversion.”
Rail-DALI-DMX converts DALI to DMX512. Ideal for all installations, it can either convert multiple channels to control DMX fixtures directly or can be used to trigger a DMX controller such as Two-Play to control an entirely separate DMX system.
Rail-DMX-DALI converts DMX512 into DALI but with many additional features, including simultaneous conversion, broadcast / unicast control and dimming curve translation.
Also showcasing on the stand will be the Artistic Licence Multichrome-Tile which, representing the next step in the expanding range of Pixel LED products, generated a lot of excitement at ARC 2010.
Multichrome-Tile incorporates Pixel technology into a 30cm x 30cm plastic tile casing, each of which carries 16 LEDs. Tiles can be surface mounted to form a low resolution LED wall and effects run across it using the same control technology as standard Artistic Licence Pixi-Flex.
This product is designed for decorative effect in architectural and event applications and is due to go into full production later this summer.
“Many of our products are best explored in detail by putting questions directly to our trained staff, in order to appreciate the versatility and functionality of each product and how it can best be used to suit each customer’s individual need. A trade show is the ideal time to do this. But with many trade shows concentrated in the South and Midlands there is little chance for those further north to do this. We feel Leeds is the ideal base to give many people the opportunity to see the latest products without having to travel the length of the country to do so,” continues Hobday.
More Artistic Licence products on stand S-D13
Power-Drive-DALI
Power-Drive-DALI is a single channel, constant current, mains powered, driver for high power LEDs. Implemented as a DALI ballast, Power-Drive-DALI fully conforms to the DALI protocol and can respond to groups, scenes and 0-100% fading.
Power-Drive-DMX
Power-Drive-DMX is a three channel, constant current, mains powered driver for high power RGB LEDs, controlled by DMX with RDM.
Sign-Control
Sign-Control is a DIN-Rail mounted DMX512 playback system, controlled by 14 buttons, a Real Time Clock, RS232 or two external triggers. Features include 3 pages of 8 memories along with one page of 6 sequences. Each memory or sequence contains all 512 channels. Aimed at simple to sophisticated room control applications, and suitable for control of any LED application, Sign-Control is already making inroads into the digital display industry.
Two-Play
Two-Play is a Two-Universe DMX & Art-Net Recorder and Playback Controller with remote triggering options and configuration features. Many hours of show playback can be recorded onto the internal memory card from DMX512 input or Art-Net, and up to four shows simultaneously transmitted to two universes. Playback is initiated from a number of sources, including a Real Time Clock and external triggers. Remote configuration and programming is possible via a built-in web browser. Two-Play received a Commendation from the judges in the PLASA 09 Awards for Innovation when it was launched in September.
